U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon said that the criminal case of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and the complexity of conducting business in the country obstructed the U.S. investment inflow to Ukraine.
"The Ukrainian authorities would be glad to get the investment and support from the European Union and the United States, but the combination of case of Yulia Tymoshenko and the difficulties in businesses in Ukraine does not allow to achieve it fully".
Gordon also called the obstacles of business dealing in Ukraine such as regulatory policy, corruption and taxation. Ukrainian authorities have promised to improve the investment climate for Americans.
