Ukrainian housewives petitioned the government for recognition of the housekeeping as a profession and enter it in a list of the state registry of professions. The decision was taken on Thursday, December 9, in Dnipropetrovsk, where was the first congress of the housewives.

About half a thousand of housewives, meeting participants from 14 regions and the Crimea, demanded the authorities to make changes in labour legislation. The main requirement of women is the recognition of the housekeeping as a profession and enter it in a list of the state registry of professions.

According to the trade union activists' convictions, housewives is one of the unprotected categories of citizens in Ukraine. Because unlike employees, they are not entitled to pensions and other social guarantees.

Their demands women addressed not only the Cabinet but also to Verkhovna Rada.
