Russia doesn't want to break the "gas contracts"

Russia hopes for complete implementation of gas supply contracts with Ukraine, the Press Attaché for the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation says.

"Moscow fulfils its obligations to the full extent and counts on observance of the principles of reciprocity in this matter," - Peskov says, commenting on the statement of the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov that the government is ready to begin trials with Russia to break the gas contracts.

Peskov adds that the gas points often appear on different levels of negotiations, including the contact levels of the Prime Ministers of both countries.

"The Russian side believes that we have existing arrangements, which are implemented by Moscow and Kiev", - Peskov says.

Mykola Azarov said earlier that he was ready to break the gas agreement with Russia signed in 2009 for 10 years. Therefore Kiev may appeal to the international court.

"You are backing us into a corner, from which we have only one solution - to break the contract" - Azarov says.
